Have a look at our Top 6 Do’s and Don’ts of Creative Blog Writing to give you a quick boost into training your mind to stick to the right track.
- Tell A Story. Most of us have heard the phrase, “Spin A Yarn” which is another way of saying create a story. Readers love to be engaged; it’s why they are reading your words to begin with. Sharing a story within the context of your blog post creates a deeper connection between you and the reader. Stories have a fundamental way of the generating the highest form of communication between people. Stories are what we remember and what had been passed from generation to generation around campfires. Find your story and share it with the message you desire to bring in your blog writing. It will have insurmountable effects on your audience and keep them coming back for more.
- Use simple words. Not because your readers are dumb but rather because what you wish to communicate will resonate much stronger because your reader won’t have to boggle their mind over making sense of whatever it is you are writing about. When things are stripped down to their bare minimum, there tends to be a crystallization that takes place because there is nothing getting in the path of that one on one connection between you and the reader. Simpler is better.
- Practice doesn’t make perfect, but it makes better. Any writer worthy of calling themselves a writer must have the integrity to work hard at their writing, and that means practice. A baseball player doesn’t have a great batting average just on luck and talent alone. A good batting average comes with drive, focus, and commitment…same as a writer. The more you put into your craft as a writer, the more your will improve and in doing so, the more you will give to you readers.
